The intriguing story of three famous pirates in history - Scarlet Jack, Red Martin, and Blackbeard - as they terrorized a ship, and took the captain and a young family prisoner. How their lives intertwined throughout this story of swashbuckling buccaneers with romance, savagery, and the heroics of a slave makes this story originally told in the 1800s one of the best historical fiction accounts ever written.

Is this a book that I can read without having to read others first? Yes, even though it is in a series of books, this is a stand alone book.
Are there a lot of typos/misspellings, grammatical errors or other editing failures? No, but readers should understand that it was written at a time when creative writing had a style far more quaint than we are accustomed to these days. In some ways, that may be why I enjoyed this work so much.
Is this a fast, easy read or is it more of a leisure read? Although you won’t likely read this in a single afternoon or evening, this is a fast-paced leisure read.
What sort of language does this writer use to amplify the points made? English. No profanities.
My biggest pleasure was my discovery of a writing style that, although not compelling reading for adults, to be sure, it still is interesting and it is ideal for the children I know. Sadly, I have no grandchildren of my own to read this to, but perhaps my sons will yet surprise me one of these days.
I’ve included a small excerpt below, so readers can peruse the style of presentation utilized by the author.

The commander of the Shark had been invited on board of the Raven by Blackbeard, ostensibly for the purpose of drinking a bottle of wine with him, but actually to broach to him a subject which had for some time been brooding in the pirate's mind, and in which he desired to enlist the interest and co-operation of the youngest commander of the fleet, as he had already secured those of his lieutenant, San Malo.
"Curse that damned she-freebooter!" exclaimed Blackbeard, in continuation of the topic on which they had been conversing.—" She is our chief, and not Red Martin, whom she rules with easy sway; she has more than once caused him to act like a fool and a coward! If our necks are ever stretched by a halter, we may thank this woman's clemency for it!"
"Sacre!" exclaimed the Mexican, clutching the hilt of a poniard, and grinding his teeth; "I'd like to have her heart's blood!"
Oh! For the good, old days of the great Kidd, when every living thing on board a captured vessel was made to walk the plank! When free-rovers adopted and acted upon the truism that "dead men tell no tales!"
"Still, comrades, she is a brave woman," said Scarlet Jack; "and I admire her for it."

Bottom Line:
This is a quaint book, written in a style that tends to capture one’s interest, even while admitting that such a style probably would never sell in present day America. Yet, it might just be one of the best stories one can read to their children at night.
Therefore, I am going to rate this five stars as a book to be read to children with great animation by the parent or guardian.

Pirate Trials The Three Pirates Famous Murderous Pirate Book Series 4 (Audible Audio Edition) Ken Rossignol Ray Montecalvo Kenneth C Rossignol Books Reviews
I enjoyed reading The Three Pirates. It was very entertaining and the three were woven together and their stories were updated with current language. It was interesting to see the influence of Red Martin's wife Haidee on here husband and the three ships sailing with Red Martin. I was only familiar with the pirate Blackbeard so it was also educational. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good yarn or sea story. It was not too graphic for mature children to read.
This is not the genre I would normally choose to read; however, I completely got caught up in the story and greatly enjoyed reading this book. It is extremely well-written, with detailed descriptions of the characters and setting. There was lots of action and unforeseen twists to the plot. It was a thoroughly entertaining read and I highly recommend it.
A fictional story originally penned in 1853 by Justin Jones, now reprinted by editor Ken Rossignol.
Rather a fascinating read, told in prose reminiscent of Victorian writing. The story follows the pirate Red Martin and his two fellow compeers, Blackbeard and Scarlet Jack. Readers who like swashbuckling adventures, a female Piratess in the mix, and nautical intrigue will be sure to enjoy this renewed treasure.
The story flows easily and is quite entertaining.
While Disney actually made pirates pretty attractive and romantic over a decade ago with a series of movies, in reality they were anything but in real life. However, we still love to romanticize the real thing and that's closer to what this is as "Pirate Trials" depicts the battles and exploits of some very real pirates in the 1800's. The story of Scarlet Jack, Red Martin and Blackbeard - real pirates thrown into a wonderfully adventurous historical fiction tale on the high seas. There are some fantastic battle scenes, a bit of romance, and plenty of intrigue in this page turner that had me longing for a trip the Caribbean. So much fun.
i listened to the audible version of the book. i spent an entire afternoon listening to the thrilling story of Red Martin, Scarlet Jack, & Blackbeard while daydreaming of their adventures on the high seas. the narration was engaging, the voices of the characters were varied & fun, while the story covered piracy, fighting, secrecy, love, betrayal, hardship, reunion, & joy. it was the most entertaining afternoon i've spent in a long time & my ONLY disappointment was when the story was ended. i thoroughly loved this book & now i have to read the ebook i also have. Ken Rossignol has done it so well & impressively! he's an author worth reading, listening to, & getting to know.it's time to stock ALL libraries with his ebooks & audiobooks & especially this ebook & audiobook, PIRATE TRIALS The Three Pirates! i loved it!!!
Fine historical action yarn complete with illustrations! How can you not be swept away with passages like "He trembled, who trembled never before! He beheld for the first time a mortal whom he feared!" and "The fire had reached the powder magazine, and instantly the vessel and crew were blown to atoms! Every soul on board was sent into eternity in one dreadful moment!" Very good book that renewed my interest in pirate adventure stories as a result. (And I'll save you the use of another exclamation mark so as not to have your blood boiling any further over purchasing this book - haha.)
I know this is about the pirates, but I keep thinking about the baby and how their actions would affect her. A tornado at sea would be no fun. Thank goodness for Mungo!!! I enjoyed the stories and highly recommend the book. Thank you Ken for such an enjoyable read.
